TPO: Thermoplastic Olefin TPO membrane is typically white and offers versatility in attachment methods. They can be ballasted, mechanically fastened, or fully adhered, with the latter being the most commonly used. Seam welding ensures a mostly homogeneous membrane, and TPO's thermoplastic properties have made it increasingly popular in recent years.

PVC: Polyvinyl Chloride PVC membrane resembles TPO membranes and also possess thermoplastic characteristics. However, PVC is more flexible and better suited to conforming to substrate changes.

EPDM: Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer is a black synthetic rubber membrane often installed using ballast weight or mechanical attachment. Ballast involves covering the EPDM membrane with stones or concrete pavers to secure the roof insulation and membrane. Mechanical attachment is used when ballast is absent, and wrinkles may appear if the membrane is dragged with the foot.

BUR: Built-Up Roof Bituminous membranes, typically built-up roofs (BUR) or polymer-modified bitumen membranes, are the go-to option when not using single-ply membranes. BUR membranes are applied using hot asphalt or coal tar pitch, often surfaced with bitumen and gravel, mineral-surfaced cap sheets, or liquid-applied roof coatings.

Polymer-Modified Bitumen: Polymer-modified bitumen membranes consist of an unsurfaced base layer adhered to a substrate. Application methods for this membrane type include ht-applied asphalt, cold-applied adhesives, or torch application. Additionally, you can opt for a protective aluminum coating over the cap sheet.
